What’s the source? Are you enjoying it?

It's from Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta.

One of the popular girls in class wants a friend who also likes niche movies and games, so she works up the courage to befriend the loner MC, because while he made a fool of himself when introducing himself on the first day of school, his hobbies were a perfect match to her secret hobbies.

I'm cautiously optimistic for the moment. It hasn't blown me away yet, but I like that she approached him for the right reasons and not because of the myriad of possible bad reasons it could have been. It also doesn't start out as a love story, so that also makes it more believable.

There are a lot of really good shows this season, so it's worth looking around and see if there's anything else that might strike your fancy if you haven't already. But I know you like romcoms, so it might be an interesting pick up for you. Let me know what you think.

Also, I assume you're prob up to date with Honzuki no Gekokujou? What have been your thoughts so far?

Short answer: I usually have a tab open for AniDB out of necessity, so that's why it's easy for me to quickly grab a link from there.

I built and maintain an anime download manager that manages seasonal anime, automatically downloads new episodes of new shows (just the first ep) and shows I'm watching, produces a( n ) (expected) release calendar and collects, manages and provides metadata to Plex so I can have my anime library archived the way I want it to ready to watch wherever and whenever.
It's basically Sonarr, but made for anime from the ground up. So no support for shows outside of anime and added features specific for anime/things I care about.

AniDB is the only website I know of that offers an API with all the metadata information I need (e.g. episode air dates so I can calculate an expected release date/time, episode titles in Romaji, etc.). And sometimes I need to help things along, because an episode title wasn't inserted into AniDB yet or a release group came up with some weird shorter title for a ridiculously long LN title. Hence the usually open AniDB tab.

I'm really enjoying Honzuki no Gekokujo, but I'm only two episodes into the third season. I always go into an isekai expecting the worst, so this has been a nice surprise

Ah, I think the last time I heard you talk about the show I got the impression you went at a breakneck speed, so I totally thought you were already watching along weekly on season 4. I'm happy you like it!
So if you're there, then you just watched the fight scene in the forest. Nice.
As a funny titbit about that scene: the asshole knight's name Shikikoza (Schicicoza) is zako kishi (small time/loser knight) in reverse. 😅

I'd like to say "out of necessity", but you can always do everything by hand, so let's just say out of frustration with whatever I was working with at the time.

Spoiler: Bit of a rant...

I typically watch just over 20 anime series a season, so I do like to have something automated. I started out with checking RSS feeds, then using RSS feeds in download managers, then went with Sonarr for a good while. The problem with any existing solution (like Sonarr) is that they're usually made too generically and started out as a download manager for regular (often western) TV shows. The anime release scene just has too many quirks which they do try to work with, but often ends up not working well.

The last straw for me was when I found out that a particular show couldn't be automatically downloaded using Sonarr, because there was no way for it to properly recognize the anime title from the file names due to a conflict with how a specific TV show type formats their file names.

I also enjoy looking at the weekly calendar I made, which has the date/time of when a release group (is expected to) release(d) each episode, instead of whenever episodes get aired on TV in Japan. And it also automatically updates the expected release date if the broadcasting schedule changes. It's nice being able to think "man, I wish things were like this" and then just making something exactly the way you want it to be.

AniDB is actually pretty good, it's my second choice after MyAnimeList.

Yes, I've seen this scene! The battle stuff came out of nowhere, but it was still cool.

I was indeed watching super fast, haha! I took a break to read some manga. I've been reading some messed up stuff lately. Right now, I'm reading Aku no Hana (The Flowers of Evil), and I'm really enjoying it. I had read another manga by the same author before, Boku wa Mari no Naka (Inside Mari)
