I think "defaultbro" is just a term used for users who don't have a pfp 🤔
OK, I sort of suspected. I still don't get the "questionable taste" thing, unless it's the fact that I asked for a couple of things associated with NTR (specifically NTR stories that continue past that point and have the characters get back together, and one request thread for NTR where the source is some kind of deception, mainly because from what I can tell that's potentially the most likely to break, or at least a close tie with coercive stories like blackmail). I hate NTR that is just NTR. I love good stories that have a guy get a girl back, or at least have some kind of reconciliation.

Don't take anything they say seriously, they like to joke around about the most random of things on a whim.

So I just started reading Heterogenia Linguistico and I had some nerdy thoughts.

In the first chapter it is revealed that the main character (a PhD? grad student? or smth,) has a professor who secretly had a love child (?) with a werewolf in a far-flung place.

Technically speaking, species are typically defined by reproductive barriers. The fact that Prof had a child with one of the wolf-kind indicates that humans and werewolves are both homo sapien sub-species, or at least closely related hominids. (So the werewolf isn't really an animal in the sense of not being human.)

This is impossible to know without knowing whether Susuki (said child) can have offspring in the future. Even then it is hard to tell because in the cases when only one sex of a hybrid is sterile, it is always the heterogametic sex. For werewolves to mate with humans, they have to also use the XY sex chromosome system, which would mean Susuki is of the homogametic sex and could still in theory have offspring even if male wolf-human hybrids cannot.
Anyway, the fact that werewolves and humans can have children together is actually extremely weird given the degree of morphological differences between werewolves and humans, not to mention the differences in perception (werewolves have stronger sense of smell and decreased perception of color, whether this is caused by only having two types of cones like real wolves is hard to say,) which indicates significant differences in brain structure. By all metrics, humans and werewolves shouldn't be genetically compatible.

The fact that they are so similar genetically despite vast morphological differences really only makes sense if there was some alien (not necessarily not a human) species that conducted gene modification experiments on humans, resulting in werewolves and humans. If other non-human species in this manga can also have offspring with humans this would lend credence to my claim.

Obviously the mangaka is not going to go this route, (I'm only on chap 8 no spoilers plz,) and is relying on suspension of disbelief. Personally I'm not sure if I can swallow the pill but eh...

On a side note, is this manga even about linguistics? Seems much more anthropological. We haven't really seen any jargon or technical discourse so far.
Ok so update on this, is that I read a bit further, and there are other hybrids shown, including between a lizard and one of the bird non-humans, and birds and lizards are farther apart phylogenetically than humans and wolves, so I think this is pretty in favor of my hypothesis, regardless of the author's intentions.

The Death of the Author

Edit: Oh also since I forgot to mention it, there's a Minotaur with four digits, and one of them is opposable!! Cows are literally even toed ungulates and two of their digits are accessory digits and do nothin'. This seems like more proof (besides the sapience) that they have human genetics.
