hello, welcome to Fujimoto post halftime show where part 2 is a shitfest. If you don't understand it's ok. Just go read firepunch and come back understanding even less than before
Nah, Fire Punch was far more easier to digest, yes, it was somewhat complex but it stayed true to it's theme, Part 2 on other hand.... I don't even understand what's the theme.

The theme is that Fugimoto is afraid of women

Thank you for those comments, I thought I was the only one not understanding shit since part 2 started. And Firepunch was a lot easier to read than this.

We are more than 70+ chapters in Part 2 but I genuinely have no idea where the story is going. What is Fujimoto exactly cooking?
I still don’t know when power is coming back, they made a contract for denji to befriend the blood devil again and turn her into power. That plot point better go somewhere. I miss our president.

Man shit is getting real, also Denji needs Pochita to live, he was dying of some disease before he became a hybrid.
Pochita is his literal heart now, I don't see how he would survive without it. Famine was probably just lying.
holy... shit... what an amazing cook Fujimoto is, i can't even describe
i'm making a bet, Asa gives Pochita her blood to revive him, and they team up to send the old age devil back to hell
what happens after, i have no idea, maybe Yoru can learn to change her ways from Pochita? or maybe someone of them will die
i'd prefer they both survive
Oh someone is definitely dying. Fujimoto isn't gonna start not killing of entire casts now.

Isn't the general layout of the plot rather clear? Death is coming, and everyone is putting crazy ass plans into motion to deal with that, which fucks royally with Denji and Asa's lives.
Although if we're going by part 1, where Fujimoto had us fooled we were following a boring old "get the big bad guy and revenge your families" kinda plot (Gun devil hunt), only to turn all of that on its head in like 2 chapters - who knows how this is gonna end.
Denji and Asa are going to get turned into octogenarians...
If Denji is anything like the other hybrids, he should be eternally young.

Nearly forgot how powerful aging devil would be, due to it wanting to go out.
Real interesting how easily it brushed off an attack that wrecked Chainsawman completely. If that isn't just style over substance, it could be that primals really are that much more powerful than the horsewomen. Makima after all could only parry Darkness for a few seconds.
Maybe the horsewomen are just so much more active in the human world because they're so human-like, but are actually much weaker than primals. IIRC Kishibe did say that the more a devil resembles a human, the more it tolerates humans. Makima, bless her soul, was even actively on the side of humans, albeit it a very twisted way, and Famine too at least claims to want to prevent the age of devils. Primals probably don't have such a human perspective and just keep their distance most of the time, but are the real rulers of hell (aside from Death, probably).
Which begs the question of why does Famine believe only War can defeat Death, if primals are stronger than even a beefed-up gun-gauntlet wearing Death? Is it because there's no chance of getting primals on their side?

I mean, a major theme that stands out to me in Part 2 is futile choice: Denji and Asa have more agency than Denji ever did in Part 1, but the chaos in the world around them prevents any of their personal actions from making meaningful differences. Denji tried to balance his personal wellbeing with the need to protect his new family, but ended up losing both. Asa made an agreement with Yoru to save her own life, but finds herself in constant peril. Part 2 also continues to explore the theme of trust, with both of our protagonists having their trust constantly betrayed by a myriad of groups, from Public Safety, the church, and Yoru herself. (Could even say that the general absence of the Control Devil herself in Part 2 reflects the loss of centralized control of the narrative, with all of the different groups clawing to control how the story goes.)
Personally, I think the fact that so many people are confused by the story trajectory is a sign that Fujimoto did a great job depicting most of the cast as untrustworthy. Nobody in the story seems really capable of stopping Death at the moment, and for the ones that suggest they could (Famine, the governments), it's doubtful that they even would.
But really, at the end of the day we can only enjoy the ride for now, and appreciate the bigger picture after the dust settles. I thought JoJoLion was an irredeemable wreck after keeping up with it during publication, but after a reread later, it's a lot easier to appreciate all the things Araki did right. But that's just my 2 cents :boomer:

I appreciate the response. Maybe the confusion is more of Fujimoto not even understanding their own story in itself! Points taken though.

page 4 :
oldness devil is a male or a female ? he/she uses the pronoun "boku" . and it is funny that oldness devil uses the pronoun of young boys .

and i guess he/she has the aging touch . he/she touches the head of chainsaw man / CSM , and then his head is aged / is aging , and is cracked .

- CSM : you old hag , i dont want to "have a taste" of your old body .

  • asa : ... CSM is on his last "legs" ...
  • me : the english translator is trying to make a pun ? right now , CSM has no leg , lol .

  • war devil : you are scared of me , asa ? you hurt my feelings . i love you very much .
  • asa : really ? i love you too .
  • war devil : HA . you fell for my lies . now i get back the body / your body .

- oldness devil : CSM and war devil are 2 young brats . it is time to teach them to respect the oldness / the elder .
