Wow, what a journey
What an ending...

Unsatisfaction comes from the difference of what was achieved and the expectations you had when achieving it. This was theme of Denji's suffering and is also the reaction of the Chainsawman fanbase right now, we got our ending but there was so much more we wanted from it.

I gave the most middling reaction to this chapter and I think its because of how much I could tell Fujimoto is also just tired. Not talking about the story, Part 2 started off so strong and had amazing drawing quality but over time just lowered itself from its standards. I think we honestly could have gotten something different if Fujimoto had more time to write and better support from SHUEISHA/JUMP.

I look forward to Tatsuki Fujimoto's next work,
Themes and such ✌️ see you next time.

was wondering what a world without Chainsaw had left for Denji, it seems the answer is "a world where Denji keeps his other contracts". He found Power again (or, she found him lol), just as she always was, if he's around Nayuta he can hopefully be her friend and brother again, and a single act of reaching out to keep Asa on her feet for once brought her into a "better world"... Chainsaw's absence is felt but you can feel the start of the love filling that absence too......

Thank you, Chainsaw Man!

Absolute dog shit.
We did wish for a happy ending for Denji, but not like this. There was literally no build-up and no payoff, just a shittier version to the Jojo Stone Ocean ending lmao.
And that one was already tough to find completely satisfying.

Summertime Rendering though did this concept perfectly. Kept the plot coherent, resolved everything first, and the happy ending felt earned and complete.

Here we have to do Fujimoto's job and squint to make it make sense. And if we think about it long term, this might be more of a calm before the storm since being used and hunted for Chainsawman's heart wasn't the only danger around. Santa Claus is still around and able to turn the whole world for example; Aki's family is already dead and him has only a few years left to live, Reze is still a Soviet agent able to come mess with the Japanese Bureau.

Without Pochita's strength, Denji might end up as one of those fodder Devil Hunter since he's still in that line of work, so it's not exactly a great prospect.

Its been one hell of a journey, it had its ups and downs, but god damn if it hasn't been one of my favorite rides in a long time. I'll miss you, chainsaw man! (inb4 surprise part 3 out of nowhere in true fujimoto brain-fucking fashion)

biggest problems with this ending:
  • opened 'get power back' plot line, then dropped it and just brought her back
  • pochita forced denji to 'change', he was kicking and whining about still wanting to go on
  • pochita's powers worked differently than what was stablished
  • nayuta is back instead of makima because of reasons ?

Ok, look I'm a huge fan so I'm not hating here but I'm convinced Fujimoto wanted to end it after Part 1 but it got so popular, he was asked to continue it.
Like, go back and read part 1. Its like day and night. Part 2 is still decent but its miles below anything before, which had clever forshadowing and kind of a red string even though it was random sometimes. (Which is Fuji's style) Part 2 however felt like he thought things up on the go and didn't really know where to end it. Also one of the biggest problems where the lack of cool characters. In P1 we had, Power, Aki, Reze and Makima. They're all gone and the only interesting one who joined was Asa/Yoru but Fuji kept going in circles with her. There's also Nayuta who got offed for cheap shock value. And Denji kind of regressed as well. He starting being manipulated by girls again. The art also really decreased. It all feels like he got bored and burnt out of CSM but kept contintinuing it because he was told to.

Anyway, I'm happy I can just pretend Part 2 didn't happen since Part 1 had a really good end point. I'm not mad. I understand there has to be reasons for this but I'm a little sad because Part 1 was a 10/10 to me.

I think that's what he was going for. He's saying "here's your trope happy ending cunts, see why those suck?". Maybe.

In any case it's clear he's spreading FUD all over the chapter, leaving questions and interpretations intentionally open. Why else would he show Pochita as Denji's heart, have Denji tease the "it's all a dream" option or shove Power and Nayuta into the story with zero regard for logic. Nayuta is either dead or never existed without Denji eating Makima, I don't see how it makes sense for her to be there. So that makes it completely possible this is all still Denji's dream.

It is what it is I guess, I hoped for better but at least it isn't boring.

Man, that certainly was an ending they went with. I really don’t know how to feel. I can’t say I’m satisfied though. This ending gave me ‘it was all just a dream’ vibes and that doesn’t sit well with me.

Wow, ok no joke now, I am genuinely surprised that even a mega loyal fan like you can see the problems with this ending.

Man, Fujimoto lost even you? That bums me out.

Definitely one of the endings, not complete ass but not even close to good lol

Either way what a ride it was, thanks for everything Fujimoto (all we can do now is hope Part 2 gets fixed if it they decide to adapt it or they just stop when they finish Part 1 lol)
