I forgot this series existed
Nice we got backstory on MC
This acknowledges there's depth in him unlike most romcom MCs
Hopefully every character starts getting depth like him
Or maybe the three stooges arent allowed to have depth to prove they were always one note in comparison
Nah... No romcom mangaka would intentionally do something that interesting
Still hoping for this manga to have some type of special sauce when it finishes that makes it stand out

Was this sniped?
The previous scan most likely dropped it, it's not on their last page where they show the projects they're working on anymore

I think it's like the difference between wanting someone to go into your house and wanting to go into someone's house, you can always be pushy and charismatic enough to build trust and get into their house, but you'll never get them to go into yours if they don't want to.

Nanao wants to be a part of his life while the other girls wanted him to become a part of theirs, as such they had no chance as he pretty clearly doesn't want to get close with those around him. I do hope she wins, feels like she's the one who'll help mc the most.

Agreed, she is the only one out of the girls that makes an active and conscious effort to pursue a relationship with the ML. The other girls are too preoccupied in trying to get the ML to try and pursue a relationship with them, which is a pretty poor decision given the competition is so steep

I'm starting to believe that the protagonist's got enough depth it was never an issue of the other girls failing to take the initiative, but of being fundamentally unable to get past his armor with their shallow friendliness, and would have all been flat out rejected if they tried a confession.
This girl was also rejected... But she was at least willing to push through.... She put actual effort into getting him to like her

That "do I really still have a chance" line actually hits pretty hard considering the fact that this is like the one manga where I actually have absolutely no idea which girl is going to win.

Like, everyone but Nanao feels like a losing heroine, but Nanao also seems like the one girl that absolutely cannot win due to her antagonistic role in opposition to the other three girls, and the fact that her winning would defeat the point of the series.

So when she's wondering if she has a chance, I'm kind of wondering the same thing!

I think it’s a bit too early to derive a definitive “point of the series” to claim that Nanao can’t win because of it. For all we know, the point could be “assertiveness and working to get what you want is the best route”, which would support Nanao winning imo

I'm not talking about this thematically or anything. I'm just saying that it's pretty clear that the point of the series is that the three silently-pining girls are being frustrated and jealous of the girl that's being straightforward with everything. If Nanao won, then they're existence wouldn't really make much sense. Why not just write a normal romcom about an assertive girl at that point, you know? Why not leave those three as background extras?

The focus is very clearly just as much on those three as it is on Nanao, and so it wouldn't really make sense for the story to go in a direction that focuses entirely on furthering Nanao's status quo without ever letting it intersect with the other half of the story. It'd be like if Oshi no Ko ended up focusing solely on Ruby's idol career and the whole murder plotline went nowhere. (Not that OnK's ending wasn't still horrible.)

It'd be like if Death Note ended with Light and Misa getting married and just had the whole "magic notebook that kills people" plotline lead to nothing. (There's probably a better comparison here, but I think this gets the gist across.)
I can agree, the series would definitely be dead in the water if it just focused solely on the progression of Nanao with the ML (can’t be bothered to remember his name).

I do hope it triggers the other girls to actually change their ways, because considering how heavily-established their feelings for him are, they haven’t really done much of anything to progress their relationships with him, seeming to just opt for maintaining the status quo (which always feels like what ends up being the nail in the coffin for losing heroines, and is also why i think Nanao has the best odds of winning)

Yeah, and the story is pretty obviously explicitly set up so that the three will be forced to confront the fact that they've been taking the relationship lightly and to learn to become more active. It's definitely not too early to tell that that's the direction the story will go, because otherwise, there's no point to those three existing. This could just be a romcom about an assertive girl.

So if that's the point of the story, then obviously it doesn't make sense for Nanao to win, right? Because if she does and the status quo just continues on uninterrupted, then all their reflection and development become meaningless.

Can't help it, it take too long for the mangaka to continue the series. 4 months between chapter 7 to 8 is too long for the gap.
