@Faryshta The popularity of tsundere female characters (who are quite verbally, psychologically, or even physically abusive) among Japanese male fans, and the popularity of handsome but obsessive and abusive (to the point of being a rapist) male characters among female fans (while romanticising rape) makes me think that quite a lot of Japanese people are macoshist.

@Moth agree. Most jousei or yaoi manga have a male lead which never take a no for an answer and is extremely jealous.

In my country Mexico they are still really popular. I remember that some female friends got viciously defensive over the mc from My Little Monster when I tried to explain that beating your girlfriend bloody 3 times in a week is not healthy.

Some Tsunderes are alright if they’re not taken to the extreme; which many are sadly. And if their character develops. After all, it’s really just them not being honest with their own feelings and putting up a front, as well as an oblivious MC not picking up on their admittedly vague clues, which leads to the self-perpetuating cycle. Mikoto from Index/Railgun and Noelle from Black Clover are examples of this. They’ve gotten much better and have significantly toned down their confrontational style and have become better people for it. Mikoto fought and saved a bunch of her clones with the help of Touma, and Noelle has ditched her classist and elitist attitude to the masses after fighting alongside Asta. If the MC is actually aware, he/she just needs to tease them and that Tsun will set fast:

Side note: my favorite Dragon Quest character is perhaps the biggest tsundere I’ve seen. Debora from DQV was included as a joke bride to make the player character’s life hell, but she is so brazen and over-the-top that it’s actually hilarious. Her comments on every event and every person make it sound like you’re traveling with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. And to balance things; she’s actually a very good but strict mother and does in fact truly love her husband, which of course she naturally admits right before the end boss.

@icarushector

Annoying how people ignore the ones who are right just to continue a circlejerk of petty hate for a character who doesn't even fit the object of their general hatred.

@flannan Aye. Let's hope the small sage trying her best will mellow Serena out. After all, it's not like Yuri would have offended her or done anything bad. Serena should also realise that she will please her hero by pulling off well the task he gave her. The reverse is also true: If she fails the job due to her personality issues, it won't make Leonhard think highly of her.

@icarushector - I would disagree - as a child prodigy, teaching is all kinds of hard, but it's also a recognition that you've learned much and are getting to a level of your teacher. And meeting another talented person is more of a relief that you're not alone.

Safety concerns like your second paragraph are also often outside a prodigy's sight. That is something that comes with either deliberately broad learning of a person who wants to be an adventurer, or, more likely, hard-won wisdom of somebody who has seen a lot of people suffer from the lack of proper safety protocols.

Now, from the looks of it, Serena doesn't see herself as a prodigy, and I have no insight to offer into the mind of hard-working or driven people. I never was one of them.

I feel like she threatened her out of know where and it was totally uncalled for who cares if it's her "personality". Why would the Mc cross anyone when she's clearly trying to learn how to help

@flannan from the way she denied being a prodigy and her background, I was wrong to label her as such. She probably worked her ass off to be where she is at, and most likely for the purpose of fighting the monster flood thing. As such, probably the only thing I got right was probably the safety part.

"But the captain wouldn't show his muscles. Stingy, right?"

But she wouldn show her boobs. Stingy, right?

@ Deathhappens
Where she can train her magic and reminded her that she needs to lower the output (which sounds counter-productive for combat magic but whatever).

What author? Mc current personality wasn't frustration enough that you introduced this type of character to add to the fire more? Why do you need to turn a sweet op loli manga this sour?

Cringy magic princess didn't do jack shit, and still acts high and mighty? And what the fuck does knowing the backstory of someone have to do with their actual combat ability?
