I don't know if surprises ever worked for hiccups

Tho i noticed i hiccuped more after i stopped choir class with the daily "warm up exercises" since that was for your diaphramg muscles and hiccups are caused by an 'air bubble'? trapped in there, even tho it affects ur throat more lol

Take a cup of water, put your lips at the opposite side of the cup you're holding like your chin is in the cup, bend your body over forward, and try to drink the water while in that position, as if you're drinking upside down. Don't stop and try to drink as much as you can in one sitting.

Confusing as fuck, but it works every time for me.

my way of stopping hiccup is drink while doing a lot of gulping motion in throat doesnt matter if it's a small amount of water as long as there are lots of gulping motion then it's gone

Drinking water or if i can't have a drink, do a prayer. It works for me
lol that would be hilarious if there was a 'god of curing prayers', what would you offer to them, just a handful of sweets/breads on a pedestal?

So, weirdly enough, I've had great success with curing hiccups by reminding myself out loud that I am not a fish. I don't know why it works, but it does. You really have to mean it when you say it, though.

Actual studies have shown the reason some of the above tricks work: hiccups just go away after a while.

It really doesn't matter what you do.

Also they are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm and unrelated to "air bubbles".
