I guess it's gonna be an open ending, guy won't decide which he will choose.
It's not like the end would have been a total surprise to the author - in fact this chapter proves so.
I've railed against it being an open ending, but you can do open endings well, however I'll be miffed if little thought was placed into this ending and it ends on an unsatisfying note, like so many others.
The big sticking point for me when it comes to an open ending for this series will be the fact that it was entirely about this relationship. What development have the characters had, and what changes has the MC gone through, that warranted reading 52 chapters?... That he actually thinks Miyahara is pretty cool too? That's a nothing burger.
For as cute as the series has been, if the ending leaves it so that there's been no development in any regard, how can I ever possibly recommend this series to anyone, or even say it's good? It's a series where nothing happened, and the plot literally didn't matter.
