Edit: author is the same one who is doing "starting today, we're childhood friends" maybe he got burned out with doing both and one of them is clearly very popular than the other. This sudden end makes more sense now.

Wow, pretty disappointing ending. That said, since her name's in the title, I can just blindly assume that Miyahara wins because of that.

Plus, all the times she gets in the way and the guy's like "No, Miyahara, not you!"

If that's the catchphrase, it's enough to make me feel like it's her victory. Either girl would be fine though, and to be fair, nobody's old enough to know if they're really compatible yet.

idk, I liked the ending, it was quite predictable, but okay overall.
I just don't get this huge dislike of open endings

There's nothing inherently wrong with an open ending, but like all things, there's a time and a place for it. You can't just drop an open ending and expect it to go over well if you've been purposefully guiding the reader's expectations in the exact opposite direction.

Arima even acknowledges himself several times that he must make a choice, which is priming the reader to anticipate that choice, only for the story to end with him not making it. It's like, textbook unsatisfying.

That being said, it could have and has been much worse in other recent titles, so I guess there's that
