I mean I can see him just thinking SHE doesnt want to touch the topic and he is too scared to touch it to be rejected, because pretty sure to him this is the only option avaliable =x

He's not at all at fault here. It's in her hands now, and she's the one refusing to respond. All our boy can do is go on business-as-usual until/unless she takes responsibility on her own.
