I would have thought they'd have some form of quirk in his speech bubbles if he was having some issue he was forcing through, but he even did the storytelling perfectly fine. His thoughts just before the story though suggest he might just only be able to fully use his voice for a set amount of time per-day before he falls over coughing his lungs out or something, but he really doesn't seem to have issues.
