He just saw his song being performed getting half a million views immediately, with a good chunk of the comments being precisely about the high quality of the song. From what we know so far, that's all he will ever get out of it. He's composing songs for free. Momona is a strange pervert, but she was actually the only person who wondered about that. Perhaps she actually will pay the dude what he deserves, but who knows, when Kageyama never asks for anything and doesn't mind getting mistreated, the loser that he is. It never even seems to visit Natsukawa's mind that she should compensate for the original songs, even though that's something people out there do for a living, achieving the needed skills only after years of studying and practice.

So, big deal if he's happy. I guess he should be both unhappy and still keep slaving for free?

I'd actually agree with you if he did get compensated. It would be cooler to exercise some composure then. He could even say he was just doing his work, so it's nothing much. But he gets nothing. Since that temporary high is everything he will ever see for all of his work, I'd say he'd deserve to get even more high and stay there for a longer time as well. Those girls should sing his praise and push him still higher, not drag him down by calling him creepy and gross and laugh at him.

ts is so ass, it started off "fine" until such insanely selfish sides of characters were revealed, and MC is even dumber, he has no reason to stick with her considering he doesn't like her and she doesn't even pay him. The other idol is 200x better, pays him, treats him like a normal person etc.
