I checked the author's homepage on Pixiv and this is the latest chap after the confession previously.

Author straight out ignored the confession and kept doing episodic chaps as usual.

The complaints and worries are a bit much for the chapter defying expectations. For once I don't mind that a queer confession got ignored, and I got half-rabid over a series doing that just a few days ago. These childhood friends++ are lovestruck, and the comic needs credibility to sustain engagement in this era, so plot is kind of inevitable. The comfy fluff is all the better with the likely destination set.
