Once again because of the cultural barrier I’ll never truly understand it

He definitely should keep using it, for the sake of that blush.

@Darth_Noox Is it really that hard to get? In Japan people normally refer to each other by family name (or sometimes by title in a workplace environment) and using their given names is a sign of intimacy. I'm not Japanese either but I don't find it that hard to emphasize with.

@Kevadu yeah, I think we all can at this point, but we won't be able to truly understand the intimacy behind this...and that is exactly what he was saying

@BCS God of Thunder lol

For everyone thinking about the intimacy behind first names, just think of them calling each other babe/honey/darling etc.

For the record, even in the west we have the term "first name basis", so it IS a thing. Just not as big of a thing.

It's like the difference between calling someone Mr. and just calling them by a nickname only their family knows.

Basically in Japan, it's considered rude if you call people by their first name. It's because first name call is reserved for family, or anyone that very close to you.

It's simply like how American use last name for polite calling of people

Somehow, if teen call other with different gender with first name, it might considered as they are either dating or having now each other since long.

In this case, Chiyo feels like that they are really dating for calling him with first name.
