Wow at the people screaming the mangaka is homophobic while taking out the list of things before bl/gl (derivative works, r-18, guro, ryona bl it's together I think?) that the artist said were "zettai muzukashii". Yes it's a whole ass list of things they said was too difficult for them to draw not just bl/gl.

"NG:二次創作/R-18/グロ・リョナ BL・百合(GL)も対応難しいです…(ブロマンズ・友情はOKです!)"

Do you also flip out over artists that say they will not draw mecha or furry or old people?

Are these the same people that want you to tolerate everything about them, but can't tolerate anything about other people?...Probably. smh

Edit: Here's the tweet btw AI pulled it up in under a minute.

you're missing the point
I can't speak for everyone in the thread, but if he doesn't want to draw gay romance, then that's fine, whatever

but then why is he adapting a gay movie into manga?
people aren't upset that he refuses to draw it, they're upset that he's specifically straight-washing something that wasn't straight. that's where it becomes homophobic
either he should faithfully adapt the work he's been given, or someone else should have been given the opportunity to do so

I'm mostly just disappointed. This mangaka theoretically had the easiest thing because it's literally adapting a film and downgrade it to a series of pictures, and the audience can be satisfied with just that, unlike novels which required a lot more skill to describe everything in vivid words. If they can even screw the characterization and don't give what the main idea of the story's about (it's mostly about Iroha and her development with Kaguya by her side).

So yeah, I won't hate on this artist, but I'd say it deserves valid criticism as the least satisfactory one of the "official" spinoff material.

Pretty sure whatever the artist drafts goes through an editor, if they aren’t asking for a 1:1, or if they were looking to make it less gay because of the magazine it’s being published (likely since its missing the yuri tag in jp sites) it probably wouldn’t matter who they got as an artist anyway.
As for straight washing, I‘ll hold off on such accusation unless the mc ends up with a boyfriend or something , that would rile me up enough to run to the artists X profile and post that their adaptation was total shyt.

It was a post they made about skeb commissions 4 years ago. Just because she didn't want to do BL and Yuri then doesn't mean she doesn't now.

And the manga isn't straight washing anything. That was all a made up controversy blown out of proportion. It is a faithful adaptation, just a boring one.
