It has become quite a trend from authors who copy paste the villainess genre without getting the actual point.
First they make the Villainess into undoubtedly morally correct even without the reincarny overwrite, but since they still want an antagonist, they turn the heroine into a villainess and create a weird relationship with the original harem, making them cartoonishly evil, stupid, mind controlled or something, with the villainess getting either them back or some new dude that is some variety of Dog by personality.
It is a dumb form of wanting to have a cake and eat it to, the MC is supposed to be the underdog, yet also morally flawless, while also representing conservative values positively

They aren't all reincarnated as the female heroine, some are so self absorbed that they will invent new forms of magic, so they can body snatch and replace the heroine, when they find themselves reborn as a villager.

It's kind of interesting to see how the token meritocratic student MC interacts with others: he doesn't. There's no (clearly visible) benefit to associating with him, and bullying him seems to be "beneath them". The latter doesn't go for the female antagonist, who now has eyes on the MC.

I hope the MC doesn't get 'stuck' trying to curb the nutbag's machinations, and instead follows the plan of spanking the prince in a duel and dipping out.
