All these people complaining about the MC need to relax. I hate to break it to some of you younger readers but people don't just instantly change just because they have some kind of idea on what they're trying to achieve. It takes a lot of effort and self-reflection.

That took long, but at least we've reached this stage. Thanks as always for TL

The way things are now they seem like a flawed couple for sure, I don't think we're headed towards a typical fluffy romcom which make me glued to this series. I'm really looking forward to how the author will develop this relationship eventually.

It took him a hospitalization due to anemia to make her tell him the truth. Why even bother confessing

I dislike the MC but, I dislike the FMC/senpai even more. She is so stuck up and selling herself more than she is worth

@jaydoodle I don't think I'm part of the "younger readers", and yet I still can't help but be frustrated by both MCs. And I say both MCs, because I see people complain about cherry boy a lot but tobacco girl isn't that much better imo.

The problem is not really that the progress is slow, it's just that it feels like the story isn't moving forward at all, even when it is supposed to. Looking back, we did have a few really important chapters that would have been major turning points in any other story. But instead they just aren't follow by any real progress in terms of plot. When cherry boy confessed? Nothing happened afterward. When he kissed her? Nothing happened afterward. When tobacco girl decided to finish it with her ex and realized her feelings for cherry boy? Nothing happened afterward.

The manga is filled with chapters that make you think "oh boy here we go", but instead are followed by both MCs not changing one bit. Or even worse: by the author introducing a new character and a new couple out of nowhere just to delay making progress with the main story.

Sure it's more "realistic" if the characters don't change drastically from one chapter to another. But here we're at the point where not only do their individual character development doesn't move forward, but their relationship doesn't move either. The way nothing changed (not even negative progress) after he confessed and kissed makes it feel as if the author is just stalling for time at this point.
And then he had to go as far as to give us the stupid cliche of "I collapsed from overwork because I was worried about you" for tobacco girl to confess.

Also some people are making it to be a shonen vs seinen thing in the comments, but imo it has nothing to do with this. I've read tons of seinen that were far better written than this.

Anyway sorry for the longass post, but I'll just finish by saying that at this point I'm just hoping this manga ends soon, whatever the end may be. I'm too invested in this to just drop it, so I'll keep reading it, but each chapter is more painful than the previous one.

The MC is annoying, the FMC is annoying, the side girl is annoying, the side boy is annoying. Only the manager is likeable. Everytime we take a step forward, we end up at the same place. Until he confessed few chapters ago, I didn't even know they weren't dating. Was wondering why he confessed again.

MC still behaves like a moron, but FMC is much worse considering that she refuses to ever behave positively towards him.

Goddamnit, I will not drop it though, despite all the complaints, I don't hate it.

@Kekitus Nah, I really get what you mean and I agree with you for the most part. What annoys me the most is that people are oversimplifying the problem with this manga being that the MC is annoying or too immature but for me that's not really the case. Sure he's not changing over night but at this point, he's trying hard enough that it's pretty unfair how no one in the manga cuts him any slack and just always acts like he's the only issue and not the FMC as well

FMC's last relationship turned her on a pretty cold person. I'd hope MC can change it.

@jaydoodle I get your point and I definitely agree that the FMC is a part of the issue. People are making it to be a case about the MC, while the problem isnt as simple.

I mean, if you look at the FMC behavior, she's definitely a pain in the ass. Some boy kissed you and confessed to you and yet... you're not making it clear to him whether you like him or not. You act indifferent, as if nothing happened. You're barely talking to him at all. It's only when he ends up at the hospital that you're thinking "well maybe I should answer his confession". Tbh if a girl was as passive as she is after I kissed her and confessed, I'd probably drop it and move on.

In the end, as I said, I think the problem isn't really about the characters anyway. It's more about how nothing is moving forward at all in the story.

@Kekitus Yeah, honestly, this whole issue with her quitting without giving him a definite answer should've been solved in 2 chapters max. But then again, the chapters are so short that I can't really say it could've

The manga runs long enough for me to know that this "I like you" is not the "I like you" the boy wants to hear. I think the reason she won't just reject him out right is that she learned enough about the MC to know it wouldn't work and he would just start bothering her and the people around him even more, just look how he started acting when he learned she'll quit soon and won't humor his unease. If she were to simply reject him, he'll make their loves even worse and make it difficult for her to go to the cafe she likes. I guess she ultimately wants to just wait him out.
