He remembers their first (unofficial) date. Or one of their initial ones, I feel like they've been going out informally for a while already. Them having regular informal dates on Fridays certainly has messed up my recollection of what actually counts as a first date for these two.
What are you doing, Yuu? Don't be a thieving cat to your best friend, it hasn't been too long since they've resolved their betrayal drama from the past, this is exactly not the thing to do when they've just patched things up...
I like how Maki put in a word for his new pal, even if it was just an offhand remark about boys' hands. But I really gotta hand it to him for trying to communicate properly with Umi, even apologizing for the little jealousy-inducing event, and the cherry on top is that he grabbed her hand for intentional handholding between almost-lovers to make up for his unintentional handholding with her friend.
Getting struck by this pair's blinding normie light is what you get for tagging along as third wheel, Yuu. Love the little details like that shopkeeper lady having interesting thoughts about these kids going shopping. She's our representative! One of us!
Maki is getting a free trial of the real boyfriend experience. Boy, you gotta shape up and get ready for more of these shopping trips if you're intending to be Umi's boyfriend.
Dang, the dark clouds are rolling in sooner than I thought. His dad is just giving off bad news vibes. I hope this isn't like a nasty custody battle or something. If custody somehow falls to his dad (fat chance this happens in Japan where women almost always win child custody) he could get him to transfer to another school on top of now having to live with him instead of his mom. That's like the worst outcome possible, but such drama would be too heavy for this series. Right?
