im kinda curious at the phrasing where its “couldn't be a father” rather than “failed to be a father” Just makes me wonder if there is something preventing him from meeting her such as not knowing where she is, being prevented by the law such as divorce courts as i have seen cases where the father wanted to meet but couldn’t because the mother doesnt want the father in the picture and told lies to the child to make the father into a villain or perhaps its more simple and he wasnt grow up mentally enough to handle being a father at that point in time

hhhhhh..... then what has been done so far is useless ?? this MC is too indecisive  i'm sure Aoi-san's father is lying to MC, but MC is too naive and innocent to realize it.

It's a bit of a meta-call, but
The way Aoi's dad is drawn, doesn't feel like a bad character.

So I wonder if he was kept out of Aoi's life against his will (by her mom, maybe?) and now he's trying to make up for lost time, but because he wants Aoi to not have to struggle.
And....Akira still, ostensibly, has to transfer at the end of the year. So perhaps there's a middle ground where Aoi doesn't have to leave, at least right away?
I mostly just hope Aoi's dad isn't actually a bad guy, though. After missing out on seeing her grandmother, I'd hope that Aoi has at least one adult in her life (outside the school, anyway) who has her back in all of this. Her manager's great, but not really someone who can (or should) be expected to help her out with stuff outside of the bounds of her job.

I'm of the opinion that Akira needs to figure out how to get out of this transfer business so he can actually stay with Aoi and with his friends, and stop having his life uprooted over and over again. That seems like it should be a priority, and I'm surprised Akira's not trying to push back against that, as much as he is against Aoi leaving his side.

But, thank you for the TL work as always.

I thought people were gonna learn from all the false accusations fathers go through in court to think before making a judgement but y'all jump head first too often. Imma wait for his side before even showing an ounce of hatred

I don't believe he has anything against it. He has never even thought about stopping the wanderer's life. It's more logical to imagine that is how he envisions his own life as well, even after finishing his education and entering the job market.

No matter what's the reason, it's unreasonable to ask her suddenly to live with someone who she doesn't know. First it's her father who she hasn't meet for more than half of her life, last time she meet him was when? When she was like 6-7 years old? He's basically a stranger for her, and there's also the father's new family. If the father really wants to do his job as aoi's father, there's a proper order of things.

I know very little about the topic, but comments on other manga have said that the family courts in Japan operate differently than in Western nations, and that shared custody is not a thing. One parent gets complete custody, while the other is effectively cut out of the child's life, barring any financial responsibilities and the like. If the mother won custody and then wanted nothing to do with the father, it's completely reasonable that he was unable to see her.
