Oh look, another one of those "where the hell are child protection services at?" kind of story. One child is living alone 24/7 without any adult supervision while another is literally abandoned by her parents and homeless. Is this just bad writing or is this the norm in Japland? :questionblob:

It's a norm in manga. After all, making a super complex backstory with full on logical explanation will be boring for your typical 'shonens', waste of budget (drawing and all that) and adds nothing to the story (except for people like us who want some reality sprinkled in).

dang, y’all really don’t like This that much? I mean it’s painfully generic but one gotta wonder, aren’t we the problem that shi like this keeps getting overused? (Not that I mind tho)

If I had a penny for every time a MC has been approached like this I'd have 3 penny which isn't a lot but it's still weird it happened thrice

I can't speak about the abandoned girl.

But I grew up in one of SEA countries.
When I was in high school, I went to one of the best school in the country. In my case, I just had to commute daily because I lived in the next town.
But there were many students from different cities that came to my high school, and they pretty much lived 24/7 by themselves. They rented a room/apartment near the school. Most of them were quite the responsible kids.

So, to me a story where a student from rural city moves and lives alone in Tokyo is believable.

Grit your teeth and force yourself through the ridiculous first throwaway chapter used to estabilish the impossible premise

Honestly the boy's situation, it seems that his parents are supporting his income as he lives there since like he said, it'll be inconvenient to have to transfer when he just got into the high school. So to make transition easier, he'll live by himself for a year before he'll transfer to follow his family. So think of it more like he's dorming rather than being abandoned. And it's quite natural and actually be good for him to teach him how to be independent and like a trial run in case he truly does want to move out. So I'd say dude is in a good situation and not abandonment like you think.
FMC's situation on the other hand...
