It just occurred to me, that her grandma told her something in chapter 1 that made her blush. I am guessing since we don't know the context yet, that she basically told Akane to marry him since she still loves him, it's her first crush, and it's her only chance to get him, so she shouldn't mess it up.

Yet she messed it up while being married to him.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression from an earlier chapter - the one where she was sick and he had to carry her to the hospital - that what Akane was told by her grandmother was to do with Akane going to medical school to be a doctor and her grandmother paying for it. I thought this was when her grandmother told her that if she didn't marry him she would not pay for it.

It could be a combination of what you said and the medical school thing OR at the time Akane was just not telling him the truth.

If there is more to it than what we already know then I guess we will find out eventually.

What do you mean faulty memory? His memory's perfect!
It's actually a pretty solid dramatic set-up: his self-confidence running around on her romantic fantasy of how this reunion "ought" to have gone. The only way to resolve it is for one or both of them to let go of a really important belief, which, execution aside, is how a good plot should go.

Infuriating to read. They keep doing the same "1 step forward, 2 steps back" thing ad infinitum

Let's be real, if the misunderstanding was resolved so easily, the plot wouldn't exist and then the manga would either introduce more love interests chasing after MC or all sorts of random drama just to breathe some life into the story.

Though, I do think it's pretty stupid :geek:

I don't outright hate the concept of childhood connection but with their current relationship it feels so forced.

It's like the author is putting in every possible thing to get them together except having actual chemistry

Sigh, why must simple communication always be such a monumental thing... i swear.
Right not like she’s had, what a year to explain it to the guy or anything, cut her some slack they’ve only been living in close proximity and sharing their goals and personal secrets with eachother, how can you expect her to (lemme check my notes) do the one thing that would easily and cleanly resolve all tension between them? Wait that can’t be right

Honestly, i'm just tired of the girl who does everything wrong winning while the girl who actually puts in effort keeps losing. Why does this keep happening in so many stories

Honestly I’m just tired of the Gyaru losing. Gyaru’s should always win in whatever story they appear in. Honestly it’s not even her doing everything wrong that’s so frustrating, I love me a good girlfailure, it’s when they’re not even TRYING and they still win somehow because at the last second they have a change of heart. Like this relationship is basically held together by parental blackmail and MC’s efforts.

Yup, pretty much. Thats not a relationship that gives one warm feelings and you can see riding off happily into the sunset. Stop giving these chicks who don't put in the effort the win all the dam time. Its not romantic, its infuriating.

Anyone happen to know how long it'll be before this misunderstanding gets cleared up?
Well...

It's basically one of the final things to get clear... Vol 9 to be precise. Also, today (yesterday in Japan) was the release of the final volume of the LN. So the manga can go ahead and present the whole story without problem.

For reference, what approximate volume of the LN are we up to?
