omg the chapters are already getting split, even though we are still in the set up phase of the story.
not a good sign imho.

edit: checked the raws link, seems the part chapters get released in a weekly rythm. so it doesn't seem as bad as I first thought.

getting xp by using appraisal sounds dumb, just go outside and spam it for infinite xp
language one makes sense I guess, there are not that many languages in fantasy worlds so learning them to get xp is fair

There's a thousand ways such an "exploit" could be curtailed, simplest being mana cost associated with using appraisal.
You can even see it in this chapter, he completely drained his mana to 0 by using appraisal once, and translation twice.

Universal translation as an active skill, eh. Let's see where this is going!

This guy is set for life. If everything else fails, he can still work as an interpreter.
They're not actually paid that much unless they're working at really high levels for the EU or UN. Plus he'd need credentials, just because you speak a language doesn't mean you'd be a good interpreter - sure he'll know the other guy said "feed-in-tariff" in Vietnamese for solar energy negotiations, for example, but does he know what that means? So he'd have to get a university language degree at least before anyone would look at his resume, and he'd have to work his way up to the good jobs over time. And move to Brussels or New York if he wants the big money, which isn't even that big tbh when you take the cost of living in those places into account.

What I'm interested in is if everyone listening to him understand what he's saying. Imagine how useful he would be as a universal translator at the UN, no interpretation needed, no nuances, he just has to repeat and everyone understand.

We're trying to get this into weekly releases from now on!
just so you know my complaint was more about the manga being a slow starter and not the translators and redrawers! you do gods work! thank you and i hope to see more!

I really am looking forward to more, but I'm also going to wager a few tropes are going to be involved in this scenario. For example: Earth is a Low Mana World, which is why things that typically get treated as the most casual skills cost massive chunks of mana. And Mana Fatigue, which we've already seen, thus treating basic skills as huge causes of strain, worthy of being granted experience for.

My main hope is that the series doesn't jump onto 'maximum exp gain' traits, where he wakes up at level 100 with every skill unlocked, which leaves very little room for the character to actually grow.
