I was worried what might happen once they inevitably encounter each other, but the classmates really seem like good guys. It might be the first time I'm seeing the hero reluctant about his title and it not immediately getting to his head.

The classmates being genuinely good people is a great change of pace compared to other stories that typically make them total scum to make the main character look even better.

I think it is less how much someone knows about isekai and more that the otaku guy has been doing the One Punchman training. Maybe with a splash of "What kind of training would the hero Himmel do" thrown in.

The difference between the classmates and monsters is intentional.

Several of the stories I've read have had the monsters capable of evolving when they hit the level cap whereas the "civilised" races do not have a level cap, but also cannot evolve to become stronger.
Usually in those stories their actions and skills affect their possible evolution options.
