This really made me realize an important aspect of grief. No matter what how much time passes, how much you mourn, what dramatic arc you think you've gone down, how much you've changed, how much you've learned, the dead don't come back. Its weird, reading a story like this, even with the happy ending it made me feel hollow inside. Like there was a slight hope that her grief and journey to accepting it would be rewarded with a return of the person she loved, but death doesn't work that way. She really is dead, and no matter what happens, she was never going to come back.
