Not a fan of the new girl, but tbh I kind of figured that even if Tao x Tsumugu happened it was always gonna be with Miki and Tao staying together, so I'm not mad about that development. If anything we needed a scene to remind us that Miki cares about Tao.

I do wonder what the long term plans for this series were, because we got a lot of Tao x Tsumugu development throughout the first dozen chapters, and then it seemed like the author remembered she wanted this to be a poly thing. I'm still not convinced that Tsumugu likes Miki nearly as much as she likes Tao or even Saku

Atleast Tsumugu and Miki's characters are still in tact. Author is making sure to remind us that Miki is self destructive. Trying to sneak a kiss on Tsumugu..

Tao was looking for Mikis affection. Does that mean Tsumugu only temporarily filled that void? Were we baited? Friend zoned??

The new girl... on the bright side she reinforced how bad Miki is and how long the others worked. Im surprised Saku and Tao only has 6 months of experience.

Usually when things get axed you'd just feel rushed and a lot of empty plotholes. However, this just threw every build up under the bus and fuck it change their whole dynamic cuz why not? Damn. Expected the new chara to be handled with more nuance but nvm ig, let's just have her harrass everyone in the guise of "love"!

I believe in Tsumugu x Saku and Miki x Tao because that's how it's presented at first, and uhhhhh the story then focused on Tsumugu x Tao, but now it's back to Tao x Miki... So... WHAT'S HAPPENING??????

I don't think it's bad in a vacuum, but this is a big shakeup when the series is about to end. It kind of makes you wonder how the author is gonna land this plane and resolve the big poly mess.

I mean, this series has always been primarily a wacky character comedy, plus knowing it was cancelled, so I was never really expecting any kind of satisfying conclusion to the romantic subplots or serious relationship development. To me the series has mostly read like the complex intra-cafe relationship web is usually just there to be the foundation of jokes, not the other way around. If people are that disappointed about it not being super serious with the romance then I think that's kinda their own fault, maybe. Like, if you were seriously expecting a satisfying conclusion to a cancelled goofy rom-com manga, then that's kind of a "losing at chess to a dog" type situation if you ask me. Sorry to say.

But anyway, I also just love that there's so much Miki scumminess in this chapter, she's so perfect. Celebrate women's wrongs.

It's kind of baffling that almost no one in this thread seems to realize that it's exactly because this series is about to end (prematurely as it was axed) that things are getting this hectic. The mangaka is obviously condensing a lot of planned chapters into one because she just didn't get the chance to actually take her time.

Like it's the classic cancellation problem, either you use the few chapters you have left to try and do as much as you wanted. Or you just keep on trucking as normal and then there is no ending just a final chapter that leaves things unresolved.

Tsumugu doesnt mind much that Ao is half naked. Maybe a trait of a fashion designer? But why is Tao so flustered? Maybe Tao is not use to any close affection?

Each time i re-read and focus on a character, there is something new.

I think this could still stick a decent landing, ao's efforts to isolate tsumugu to try and monopolize her affection arent gonna work and ideally will bring the girls closer together? maybe miki will work on herself bc she doesn't wanna be a freak like that.
its a weird tone change and not good, but given being axed it at least sets up an ending

Reading this again, Ao actually said she is here for Tsumugu for her interview. Miki was going to turn her down but Ao had a knife which brought back trama. Tsumugu is in danger

Well, this train wreck of a chapter rapidly course-corrected to my preferred pairings(Tsumugu x Saku and Miki x Tao) and added the funny anecdote that Miki got stabbed at some point(and is willing to protect Tao despite it). But it also introduced a really annoying character, so I guess it's a fairly neutral chapter IMO.

Binged all of it to this strange chapter, but I'm willing to withhold judgment and say maybe new girl is the classic third wheel in a GL manga there to just unclog progress and accelerate things.
