@Tamerlane
About the title you mentioned in the Wall Of Text, i'm very empathetic, i cry when others cry, and i suffer when others do, so thinking about something like that happening to a character designed to make a connection with the reader makes me feel ill.

@Richman

To clarify without spoiling too much:

-One of the characters is extremely mentally unwell, and is in abusive situation both at home, at school, and as a part of her "job," (she's an underage prostitute) so, when someone reaches out to her in comfort, she falls in love with him and tries to hang out with him more.
-Unfortunately, a popular girl also fell in love with him, and she was already bullying the mentally unwell girl, harassing her, beating her, threatening to kill her, etc. so that she can have him all to herself as she wants him to be her knight in shinning armor, more or less, but when she takes the mentally ill girl's phone, the girl snaps (it has all the information about her being a prostitute as well as the boy's number, which is why she's so protective of it) and so gets into a fight, which ends with her going to one of her only friends for help
-The girl's childhood friend is a boy with unrequited feelings for her, and she essentially pressures him into paying off his delinquent friends to kidnap her off the side of the street. He doesn't want to get involved, but because it's coming from someone he loves, he reluctantly agrees to use the money she gained from prostitution to pay off his friends for her "revenge," though he's very clearly uncomfortable throughout the whole thing.

Let's just say all these factors end up leading to a tragic scene where she's abducted off the side of the street, forcefully gangraped and beaten by everyone but the boy and the girl she bullied (who's disguised), despite screaming how she wants her first time to be with the boy she likes, and then once everyone takes their turn but the boy who doesn't want to do it, the rest pressure him to join in, even the woman he loves and wants his first time to be with, who is recording him while looking him in the eyes, trying to pressure him to participate.

Later, when he realizes that the girl that just pressured him into committing the worst crime of his life never loved him, he goes on a rampage and tries to assault the guy she does like, only for him to get arrested for it and end up in Juvenile Detention.

The manga is terrifying in that it essentially flips the most unlikable characters into one of the most sympathetic in a matter of moments, and has two characters we've been rooting for and can understand the thought processes of become irredeemable in a matter of moments.

It's good drama, and it makes the tragedy of it all even more sad as things continue to unfold, as the situation is full of bitter ironies and elements that all work together like dominos falling.

Unironically one of my favorite mangas, but it's not for the faint of heart.

Let's just say everyone is not what they seem on the surface and there's quite a bit of complexity

https://mangadex.org/title/38738/kimi-ni-aisarete-itakatta

Also apparently the author was bullied extremely badly when she was younger, so what she writes is based in parts of her own experiences dealing with anxiety. Apparently the other manga she's written is too graphic to feature, but that's just word of mouth.

@Halo Unironically it was this manga that made me start this thread/made me come up with this idea in the first place.

It's really good but has a low score because of its depressing themes and content, so I was thinking of a tag or something that could indicate the mood of the piece would be good.

Also, you don't have to worry about the 2 minute cooldown between comments if it takes you over 2 minutes to type out a response.

@Richman Fair enough, though it's probably what I would want a tag like this to be for: a work that someone like you wouldn't want to read and could block out.

The tag would describe the overall tone of the piece and probably would be helpful to organize. Still, if you ever get a chance, I'd recommend it.

I think something like "sensitive content" is the best option, because "controversial" is affected by bias; "Depressing" is subjective (and maybe too direct); "heavy" is not good and "explicit" is associated (usually) to sexual themes, which ecchi, smut and SV tags already cover.

That or putting it in the description and it is the TL group's decision if they put a warning in their uploads.

@Tamerlane Yikes, that manga sounds like a doozy. What about "disturbing" content? Or it we went with "sensitive" what about saying "sensitive topics" instead?

@Tamerlane I know deciding whether the concept of the tag is the primary goal, but I think if we're looking for a single word to best describe the manga you want to fall under a tag then the semantics are kind of important.

Fair @BestBoy

I'm more trying to capture the idea of a manga that has darker themes and generally isn't comically focused, (though Suicide Boy is the exception) which technically something with the smut/gore/sexual violence tags can do, but generally don't.

It's hard to find the right term for it, and I went with "Controversial" because that felt not to be too subjective but accurate enough to the content of the manga itself.

"Disturbing" had kind of a negative connotation and felt too subjective
"Sensitive" is closer but still feels too broad
And @Richman describes my issues with the other ones pretty well

@Tamerlane "Mature Themes" perhaps? Though folks might just assume that means "has t&a or gore." I don't really see anything wrong with "controversial themes/content/topics" to be honest.
