Glad to see Violence Incarnate finally join in on the conversation after multiple chapters of silence, seems like being humbled by his defeat against El Cucaracho will broaden his world view.

Gosh Pete & El Cucaracho being happy that both can still keep on fighting.

I really want Pete to win but I am just happy to be surprised with new updates.

What I'm worried is that in 82 part 1 in the x-ray scene, you can see Pete's leg with a tiny crack, that may be checkoff's gun in play.
that could also be just a red herring, remember in order to CC has a good ending, Pete must have a satisfying fight where he is pushed to the brink while EC find peace once again.

There can only be 2 ways for this to end: Pete kills EC or Pete scaring EC brain so hard nothing can put EC in survival mode again except Pete’s kicks. Any other ways would just make the readers sad or disapointed.

(Well actually we can still has Pete turns off EC’s survival mode somehow and still lose, but since i’m a Pete fan I won’t accept that kind of ending. I will cry in Pinakanaka’s inbox and whine for YEARS it make Frieren look tame)

this is so beautiful, EC asking if you can keep going? and pete saying that's what i want to hear, that's so fucking beautiful, i don't know who to root for any-more, both of 'em are so amazing, tho pete still reminds me of my dad so i guess he has that going for him.

I think Pete is still slightly holding back, just barely. We know he can kick fast enough that Monkey See can't see his kicks, but he can also just MOVE fast enough to vanish from MS's vision (As seen with the roundhouse into a back kick where MS doesn't even see the wind-up for the back kick). I think just how we saw full survival mode EC we're gonna see Pete's final form. MACHINE GUN LEG PETER!!! Then again, I might just be glazing my GOAT but at the same time if he can achieve that speed where MS is totally blind to his movements then maybe he can do it on command and just isn't for the sake of the fight.

I think what might happen is Pete will sacrifice his fractured leg to defeat EC and in them both achieving their goal, EC finally sleeping/dying and Pete being satisfied, Pete will never be able to fight again. Like, he'll do some super kick that completely shatters his shin bone which makes it impossible for him to do a proper kick ever again. (And then when Kuroki finds him and challenges him they never actually fight, cause Pete can't, and that's why he's never mentioned in main line Kengan. P.S. I know this is a fan-work so obviously he wouldn't be mentioned, but that would be a good in-verse explanation for why.)

Maybe I'm wrong, but my interpretation is that Pete hit EC in the face like that in hopes that he'd knock him back into consciousness instead of instinct mode, so that EC can enjoy the rest of the fight as much as Pete is.
I have a theory that Pete still isn't going all out so him still toying with EC by snapping him back into consciousness fully plays into that!! I do think that Pete is ABSOLUTELY trying his hardest, but I still think he's trying his hardest with a few mental limitations set. I think we see his full potential within the double-barrel roundhouse and the head kick-back kick instant combo which are, in my opinion, a whole step-up from even the maximum effort kicks he's been throwing for the past few chapters. Maybe I'm just coping because EC's max survival instinct mode super OP and I want my GOAT to win but like, A BOY CAN DREAM 😭😭😭😭

At this point, I genuinely cannot tell who's gonna win, strength-wise and narrative-wise.

Pete seems to have sustained little permanent injury, save for what looks like a cracked shin.

Meanwhile EC has a broken arm, but doesn't care.

Pete seems to have trouble with EC's 'instinct mode' but at the same time he switches between that mode and his 'normal' combat frequently.

We know that EC wants one thing and one thing only from this tournament: an opponent that can kill him. Meanwhile Pete, who, on one side, doesn't like killing, would probably kill to gain his freedom. But we don't KNOW yet and it's so awesome!

Both Pete and EC are fighting at their full potential at this point. Pete is overjoyed because he's fighting another person after Florida who can keep up with his full power, and EC is ecstatic because he sees Pete as someone capable of truly killing him, both in body and spirit.

But Pete seems... more collected than EC is, not just in this fight but across the whole tournament. Looking at their records:

-Pete had a flawless victory against The Pure One, low diffed Firecracker, low diffed Scourge and only got serious against Florida.
-EC low diffed Danger, low diffed Monkey See, then started to "show the cracks" in his inpenetrable will against Beatdown, and nearly died against Violence.

Pete got his nickname because he squashed bugs, and perhaps the Roach will suffer the same fate.

Fighting El Cucaracho is like fighting THE most bullshit of Bloodborne bosses, finally getting through his absurd health bar, and then you find out he not only has a second health but that if you don't kill him fast enough he suddenly goes back to his first health bar at 50%.
But fighting Pete is like going into PvP who doesn't need his damn Blood Vials, and just keeps spamming a damn laugh emote or some shit while murdering you over and over.
