Joke went over your head completely. Youngsters have been making silly handles and addresses that they regret later in life since the AOL days.
It was not that common for familys to have internet access before the early 2000's, it was even more uncommon for a child to have an email address.

So my assumption was you were born in the mid to late nineties.

And no, the joke didn't go over my head.

The point is not if it was common for families to have internet access or not, but that young people (not just kids, even teens) who did get to create their own e-mail addresses often had ideas like the wife did in this chapter. It's not hard to get.

Well, since Haru-chan found and brought the cat in to adopt into the family, she might as well have "full right" to name the cat a good enough name for it to not dislike.

Kuru-mama however... due to her love overload towards her family, made her doki doki waku waku to an extreme point to embarrass "what would've been Haru but not Haru" if Hubby-san didn't also have a say in it.

Kuru-mama's love too dense that it leaked off into the form of those naming sense that Papa-san has to rein her in at occasions like this that Haru-chan found it very grateful for her papa

Kuru-mama probably have some names planned out for her own children with Haru being the first victim, and the next was Caramel/Mel the adopted cat (their future children's names are on the line by Kuru-mama)

The name is so long, by the time you called out the entire cat's name when you call them down for supper, the cat would have starved to death.

Obviously, this is highly dependant on where you lived, and income levels. But for me in France that would be wrong. End of the 90s most families with a kid in high school would have some access to the internet, even though it was still commonly just shitty dialup.

it was even more uncommon for a child to have an email address.
First, wrong again. But also, AIM, ICQ, MSN… Teenagers have been using cringy names to communicate through alternate non-email networks for a long while.
