Tyrrell's Classic Workshop recently did a video on the Countaches as he has 5 he is working on to fix at the moment. In the video he went through the development timeline and he said that 5L from the prototype had a problem with the bottom end - it was new engine with aluminum block and it wasn't strong enough - it was flexing and warping, the main bearings were getting damaged. So Lamborghini decided to go back to 4L engines for LP400, which they used from the 60's and they knew those engines well. 5L displacement was back in the 80's models once they sorted out the issues.
