For what it's worth, the cigarette brand name change from Mild Seven to Mevius (2012) happened after these chapters were serialized (2010-2011). I wonder if the author would have still used this name if it was associated with a popular cigarette brand at the time.

Man I really hated that change, the new name sounded so corporate, Mild Seven had that Showa retro coolness to it
