@Sir_McClutch there are apps that you can download that brings your screen brightness higher than what is normally possible. These apps were more common when not every phone had a built in flashlight. Because he is holding his phone screen out it is likely his phone is either an older model with no flashlight, or he was used to using the app on an older phone and just never stopped using it.
The flashlight apps I used back in the past turned on the camera's flash LED, not the screen. That's much brighter than the screen gets so it works better. I don't doubt such apps exist, it just seems really weird from personal experience.
@manabi the title was flashlight and he had his phone screen forward, it made the most sense to me because I remember an old flash light app on my original ipod touch that had no camera or flash. I think the app got in hot water cause it stole a lot of your information.
I just knew if I just had him say flashlight it would read like a lazy translation.
