@Simply_Fiction As if the author doesn't have some kind of a plan in place.
Who the hell is justifying bullying? I was obviously saying that EVERYONE was an idiotic dick as a teenager. For all we know, this could be teen Oscar acting out because hormones make you stupid. But I've chosen to suspend judgement, wait for the next chapter and enjoy the ride.

I don't think this is actually what happened, this is most likely how she remembers it.

Oscar, your past has tainted all possible future actions. You are cruel and remorseless.

@Noah_53 The flashback is shown more from Oscars perspective though, if it was supposed to be Floras memory then it would mean it is somewhat badly written.

@darkmatter923 Did I do some dickish things as a teen? Probably. Did I destroy someone else's property as a teen? Hell no. Even teens know that's a line you shouldn't cross.

It's a bit exaggerated, but bullying is still a pretty bad behavior not to learn from. It doesn't matter that he did so because he was infatuated by Flora.
Also, art classes typically require a portfolio of work you've done over the entire semester. If that notebook was all of her work, then what Oscar did would harm her chances of passing the class. While yes, artists shouldn't get too attached to their work, it is important to retain the older pieces for tracking artistic evolution.

Normally, my personal view is that if you wrong someone, you need to make it up. But it seems Oscar didn't do that.
