Honestly I didn't find the old anime adaptation to be that bad. Just recalling anime of the time, not everything that came out looking like Cowboy Bebop or Ghost in the Shell.

Jinto was a bit weakened in interaction, but they did continue the story well enough considering the limitations of the anime format compared to novel or manga format. The simple fact was that the anime adaptation was one of the only reasons people ever picked up the books, so to trash it entirely is a bit overkill.

@NorthLander113: I've since re-watched the late 90s series, and quite honestly the animation quality is comparable to most 1-cour series out there at the time. It certainly wasn't amazing, but it wasn't "trash". Either way, most folks likely found out about the LN/series through the OG anime series, so treat it as a gateway drug of sorts.

That said, I simply find the art style surrounding the eyes to be unique and it takes some getting used to. Not necessarily in a bad way, as Yonemura does a fantastic job over all with sci-fi art styles ("Strega!" is another sci-fi title by him that has fantastic art).

At any rate, it looks like the translation for this series has stalled... so I might actually end up picking up translating volume 5. Time will tell (I'll definitely upload to Mangadex if I do translate it).

i dont like a art style, Anime from 90's had better quality then this. Also Dialogues are bit weird, they way Abh speek dont suit them here. My recommendation: just watch Anime: have 3 season's and 2 ep OVA Anime: Crest of the Stars then Banner of the Starts or even better just read LN there are 3 Books of Crest of the starts and 4 of 5 Book of Banner of The stars Translate to English. Anime Ends at Banner of the star Volume 3. 4th book is unoffcial translate "somewhere" in the web
