I'm betting King always had the resurrection skill and would never use it. Instead he wants an army (duh) that he can control. Myne will wake up get the skill to summon people and resurrection then the "hero" will kill king after learning it doesn't work.

Also even if I believed the king (which his speech was very not convincing considering he decided you'd be his soldier and just sacrificed your friend/healer) why would you still not either overthrow and do it yourself or just give him permanent damage as a reminder?
