Man... the world building this series is giving is "CHEF'S KISS".
Our little midget is a little too prone to offense in my opinion... a trait clearly developed because of people's treatment of him, but even then... excess is bad, directing that same caustic attitude at those that don't deserve, and are even helping him, is not a virtue.
You know... the fact that Pom's name comes from a character made for propaganda has SO many possible details that it is amazing how simple it is a writing choice.
Yes... Pomerine(character) was created to endocrinate people even more, on the "danger of the infected ones", but imagine this... that inside Bome, amidst of all the fear and preconceptions, the creator of the character thought "hey, those are still people, sure some are dangerous, but they are still people. How could I lower this excessive distrust?".
Then obviously, came the inquisition with censors and editors, but maybe, just maybe, there was good intentions of trying something.
Mind you... still propaganda, like Altan pointed out, "protect 'good' Bomian children" "a 'good' infected", and my whole scenario could not even be true, and this was pure propaganda made by assholes.
But knowing Tony, he infers these little details, just like despite being a nation were infected can thrive... there is still a preconception based on the "type" of infections, and only now are they trying to leave that behind.
