Ahh, good to see you here. I keep seeing you commenting on my favorite series. I actually work on Bugle Call too. I'm curious, between Radiant, Bugle Call and Daemons of the shadow realm, which is your favorite?
Oh man... you are setting me up with those choices XD.
All three of them are so good, they do have some "connective tissue" in their thematic direction.
Radiant is a story about otherness, the expectations of society, but at the same time it isn't about just being against the system, you can't simply destroy it and think things will work out. You need to learn, and learning as you live the challenges it imposes on you is... difficult.
Bugle's Call, in its own way, is about otherness too, but it is more gruesome with the toll the manipulations of those in power take on people, the lengths you see yourself trusted into to achieve your dream, to break away from the cycle of pain but still see yourself playing into it.
Funny enough... I don't quite grasp Yomi no Tsugai "theme" yet, I love the characters, Arakawa-sensei is as sharp as ever with her characterization, there were mentions of society's marginalization of people, not just the implied one but directly told by what a few characters dealt with. But it feels more... mundane compared to the other two in this aspect.
But, one way or another... all three of them are GREAT stories, and what I wrote here is such a small part of what makes them great. I am always happy to see any of them updated, and click right away as soon as I see them.
Thanks a lot for doing this series, the work you all put in translating these stories is so appreciated that there are not enough words to thank you.
And thanks for the heads up for Fabula Fantasia, I will search it up, but maybe I will wait to be posted here, I like to put my thoughts in this comment section.
And after all that... what do you think of those stories you talked? Do you have a favorite? What are the traits you most like about them
