Of course there are worse curses but still. It takes a certain level of 'curse/blessing/luck' to meet so many of such eccentric people. Despite having the same 'weird traits/genes' as the rest of his family, he is the one that 'meets/attracts' the eccentric people and equally eccentric situation.
