I don't remember much of the history, but isn't already revealed that Mana = Millennium Earl?

IIRC from prior flashbacks Mana/Nea's original combined form was the True Millenium Earl, but he was killed and the souls split into the two. Due to Mana's trauma at the circus he started to transform into the Earl again, but in a weakened state since he didn't have Nea with him.

Yeah, his "twin's" death sent him into a complete mental breakdown and made him disfigure his face to it's present look iirc, and he's still pretty much broken inside.
