This armored guy feels like something that the author is convinced is meaningful, deep, and mature but it's actually shallow and lazy. Like he's convinced that this shows the guy is a good person hiding it under a prickly veneer but it's more like he's just an immature twerp spouting what a kid thinks a deep adult would sound like. It's the sort of stuff that makes me question how common it is to have WN/LN authors who get their stuff adapted actually turn out to be 13-15 years old.
