Other than being overprotective, I think he was a good guy from the beginning.

Not sure which part you said where the brother offering his opinion on their relationship. I don't see what you meant.
But his actions just showed siblings energy to me. He was just teasing his sister and her bf (who is also his friend). I'm pretty sure most siblings are like that.
And tbf, his relationship with the manager is much more complicated. The way the sister and the bf (a happy couple) trying to meddle was too ignorant, so it makes sense for him to get irritated and tell them to butt off.

Though I do agree he still needs to apologize to his sister for being overprotective.
