Yes, it's Africa. But the more interesting side effect is showing us that fantasy African has a different geography and climate than real Africa. By the Author's map, they've added a giant plateau to a region that should be a diverse mix of scrubland, semi arid desert, ergs, and smaller stone outcroppings. The town of prague should be located in the heart of arid desert, nigh inhospitable.

I can guess that this Africa is from about 7,000 years ago. Due to changes in axial tilt, the Sahara shifts from desert to green savanah every 20,000 years or so.

The way he is drawn is villain coded but something about the introduction makes me think he isn't and it's just their perception of him but I could be wrong.

to sneak and say hello from no where is a bad idea with these small followers around. it is asked for being killed.

The MCs big form isn't natural to their kind to begin with. She just evolved to look that way due to needing a bigger brain to process her past life. From what she said about lacking a heat cycle it might be something similar to hybrid sterility.

While still a ostrich beastman she isn't compatible sexually with the males of her species anymore due to her higher evolution. Since its basically impossible for their kind of produce another like her, her reproductive system just shut down.

Or the evolution process, where her body broke down then regenerated bigger and stronger multiple times for months, was so strenuous it basically killed her ability to reproduce.
It seems like there are no males of their species only females

I’d imagine her stimulus is gonna act as a seed that allows her group to evolve into a full demihuman variant group different from the rest of the species over time thanks to town interaction. Probably with some sub variants like Dere turning into a mage.

I’d imagine she’s just not active yet cause she hasn’t found a suitable mate yet

Hm, suspicious Chinese-coded merchant... Well if By The Grace of The Gods had him be a goog guy, this guy might just be a neutral...

They have ability to sense threat (or the birdbrains would never make it) so this is bad.

Also I wonder if their heads are starting to pop a bit. I don't blame everyone for assuming hive, she looks so upgraded compared to the flock.

By appearance sure, but even that on her vision of what they would look like with adult bodies had two males. She also makes specific mention of the females being able to lay eggs in two or three years, implying there are males. Besides that the mention of not having had a heat cycle or anyone seeing her that way suggests that there are plenty of males, and that normally the females have a heat cycle.

It seems like there's some sort of universal language thing, like a tower of babel sort of effect going on. They classify monsters based on their complete inability to communicate with it. It seems to get brought up a few times in the LN, where the MC makes note of curious cases of language lining up rather conveniently. Given that the god of this setting is characterized as a little lazy or uncreative they probably had something to do with that.

Also, having read the first LN book there's a few interesting changes here. They used this opportunity to bring up ostrich breeding, maturity, and the MC's circumstances when it comes to it. This does get explained in the LN but isn't so consolidated nor is it brought up here. One thing it does leave out is that the Ostriches have a breeding and nesting period which is one of Reis' main concerns when it comes to negotiating for her flock since they will be vulnerable and stationary during that time. One thing that probably isn't clear is that there are male and female ostrich, it's just hard to tell with the art and how they appear so young.
Oh, that's interesting. So it could be that it's not an isekai cheat power, but just a universal thing from a lazy god
Also good to know about the genders, definitely couldn't tell from the artwork

There ARE males, it's just hard to tell with the art. All the females have a small vertical line over their eyes, meant to be eyelashes. While the males don't. The general face may be drawn the same(or basically the same), and the hair can help spot specific murder chickens(like Dere), but when you see multiple in a group, they do a good job of always adding the eyelash to the females

This was one of the first things the eight hour documentary touched upon. There is nothing weird like that about their mass industrial reproduction, they are just like normal sperm whales. Perhaps made more sense then because the sperm whales there weren't eternal trainees and grew to middile management emotionally like you'd expect in a 70s' porno.
I see.

The writer's really gotta keep the ostriches backstory straight. These ostriches are straight from the wild and they're damn powerful. Especially when comparing them to humans, they're top-tier. It's super off that any human would be able to just sneak up on that type of group. If... IF one could, there wouldn't be any quirky remarks from the little ones, it would just go right into a slaughter scene. They'd attack first, just like a wild animal from that type of living environment would. Honestly, I think the author made a bit too quirky of a character for themselves with these ostriches, so they're brain is having a hard time keeping up with the would and wouldn't do's of these creatures. That's how it feels to me while reading this, anyway😅.

Who else wants a doujin/spinoff LN of this?
What really makes the image for me is remembering that MC was male pre-isekai.
