@IMACOP You are arguing that Rovel is an asshole, and that the crown prince is only doing what he should as a ruler. Sounds a lot like "good or bad" to me.

Have you ever heard the saying "Only fools and children speak the truth"? Rovel had already seen how the royals behave, since he wouldn't be there unless he was already part of noble society. He never condemned them either, he merely stated the spirits would not help "difficult people". A child speaking what they see as truth, is not the same as criticising the ruling body. You also forget that Rovel is loved by the spirits. The Vankreift had no prior history with magic, yet Origin already had an eye on him. What's to say he never met a spirit before that, and learned of their hatred? And really? You're condemning a person as a "grade A bastard" over something he said when he was fucking seven?

"one wayward princess", huh? What about this quote from Raviselle, the crown prince: "Your father who was getting in my way[...]"? Seem like dear ol' crown prince had issue with Rovel's father as well, yet you think he was completely innocent in Agielle's scheme to kill him off? Punishing innocent family members for someone's supposed crimes, huh? Sounds a lot like what dear ol' crown prince is trying to do to Ellen. He's trying to force her, a spirit, into a marriage with royalty, the sworn enemies of spirits, over the Vankreift slighting the trash princess. That's not how he frames it, but that is what he's trying to do, in the end. Double. Fucking. Standards. It's fine when royalty does it, but not when spirits do it, huh?

Rovel "is an uncontrollable openly hostile dick, even without antagonizing him"? The engagement with trash princess was forced before the monster attack, meaning the royal family (you know, the ones responsible for reigning her in, yet didn't?) was already antagonizing him before he died. But he still did his duty, which resulted in his father's actual death and his own apparent death. He spent an entire year unconscious, and then married Ori (you know, the one who saved his life?) which made him not even human anymore (half-spirit). During this time, he had to have learned about the curse.

So, on the one hand you have the royal family responsible for Vankreift suffering under Agielle and the massacre of many spirits. They are also responsible for Rovel's father dying, but since he didn't know that upon first return I'll disregard it for now. On the other hand, you have the person who made Rovel's heroics (you know, stopping the monster uprising that would have destroyed the kingdom?) possible, the person who saved his life, the woman he loves, and the mother of his child. Which seem like a better choice to spend your life for? Is the duty he was born into (as a nobleman) more important than the duty he swore himself, by choice (as a husband and father)? Mind you, he had already pretty much died for his nobleman's duty at this point.

Not once did he mention fighting for just his own house, but he was a knight in service of the crown. Please offer a source, i.e. an actual page of this manga, where it's stated clearly that Rovel was only kept in check by his father and only fought to near-death out of selfishness. I will completely ignore any sources that are not this manga, like the source novel. This is an adaptation, not a direct retelling. The story is not the same, since the media is not.

Ok, so you completely disregard the goddesses? Let's talk about authority. The highest authority decides what is right and wrong, just and unjust. What is best. In society these are represented with laws and morals. In our case the people are the highest authority, since we as a society decide morals and laws (through the flawed democratic process). In their case the goddesses are the highest authority, since they have direct influence over the world and society (like the case with the infidelity curse, or Origin's powers). The goddesses has direct control of at least some laws of human society, and power of all creation. The goddesses are justice; they literally decide what is right or wrong. If they decide the world is better off destroyed, it fucking is. No matter their sphere of influence or air-headedness, they directly decide what is best for all because they are the source of all.

If you can't provide sources to support your arguments, like I have, I will completely disregard your opinions since they would not be based in facts.

Edit: Sorry, had wild random half-sentences. Aand poor spelling.

@cor3zone And good for you, bravo. All I'll leave is this, moral/virtue, mentality/attitude, and the matter at hand/situation are all separate. One can be a good (moral) asshole (attitude) who is right (situation), as much as an evil (moral) gentlemen (attitude) who is wrong (situation). They are not mutually exclusive. An asshole is an asshole regardless of his moral compass, just as a king doing his duty, is a king doing his duty.

As for the rest, even though you've proven me wrong on some points and I've accept my mistake and agreed with you, yet you continue to push it, whelp, guess someone's on total defensive mode. So, we're at an impasse, feel free to disregard my opinions.

@IMACOP Very well. It seems you are the actual bastard, going defensive by claiming I did. Thank you for the discussion, have a nice [current time of day in your area].

@IMACOP

I agree with cor3zone opinion.
But it's up to you if you can't stand Rovels atitude neither can I nor will I force you to chance your feelings.
But to call Bynum an bastard just show how narrow minded you are.
And by the way everyone has more than one atitude even in novels, that is characteristic for living beings with character
Only puppets have one atitude to show

wouldn't be better to just assassinate the royal family? or just get the hell away of that kingdom with a shitty king.....
and if they do just gtfo, rovel and his family won't have these problem of blackmail or cloak and dagger and shieet....

i mean if i have problems like that and it's annoying, I'll just get the fuck away from it and forget about it, y'know....

@cor3zone Oh yes, you got that right. I'm a bastard. However, claiming being defensive? Pardon, but I'm not the one who keep bringing up the good and bad moral argument, even when I specifically mentioned it's a separate matter and not something I even touched on. Also, I'm not siding with either party, you were the one who placed me on the king's side and took it from there. And finally, some of the evidence you provided proved me wrong, and I accepted the mistake, but you felt the need to continue the same argument? which, I already admitted, you're correct? If that's not up there in a defensive posture, then I don't know what is. And thank you for your time and have a nice day too.

@lan2001h Eh, sorry, "Bynum"? Anyway, people can take on many attitudes depending on the situation at hand, no one said otherwise. However, that doesn't change a person's inherent personality, his mentality - which is what determines whether one's a bastard or not. Looks like we aren't talking about the same thing.

@jojo1 While I wish they could just end the royal line as well by having them abdicate their power or something, or just straight up leave, they can't. The first priority of the Vankreift house is their territory and people. Even if they hate the kingdom, they are still responsible for their own lands.

@IMACOP Usually the first sign someone is getting defensive, is them claiming the opponent is getting defensive.
Pardon, but I'm not the one who keep bringing up the good and bad moral argument, even when I specifically mentioned it's a separate matter and not something I even touched on.
The first post of yours I responded to:
The previous and current kings aren't saints, but it's shown that they (especially the current one) are messing with MC family to protect the kingdom. Is that really evil?
You literally ask if it's "evil", yet you aren't talking about good or bad? Getting mixed signals here.
If by "I already admitted, you're correct?" you mean the edit you made to a post, conceding about Rovel 'selfishness', I'm sorry. I saw the edit after posting my reply.

@XRMN

You know, you can just ask any chemist or pharmacist, they have a lot of tools for this even though they don't know the molecule.

My recommendation for free and simple is Chemspider
