The "victim" kid has a huge fetish for being pitied and his super powers of super healing + super self mutilation help him with living out his kink openly.

... I'm not sure that "self-harm" quite qualifies as a "super power". I think's more of a "thing you do"...

He manifests it though, he doesn't even need to actually cut himself, like how he broke his leg, even though the heroes caught him safely.

The surprise was so effective that it's easy to forget that his backstory truly is tragic, losing your family and going from a rich background to being in a poor orphanage is no joke. But you have a wolverine level healing factor and you use it to make people pity you and get off from it? Linking your identity to that to the point you'd kill yourself for it? The kid is seriously mentally ill, needs professional help. Got me laughing out loud though.

I find it amazing how I can take this story seriously while still laughing a lot. It's interesting, engaging and funny while still feeling grounded.

Is it just me or does the author have an axe to grind with Christians.

The nuns being abusive while being worshipped, the boy crying victim but it's a ruse for attention and drawing in innocent kids with lies while putting them in harms way, a father figure who's beloved but ultimately just a manipulated do gooder who does so much harm he needs to constantly do PR work and a ruler talking constantly about light and goodness while ignoring the shadows they cast and covering them up.

Top it off with making the MC a Satanist but not a hero because he doesn't want to be painted in the revolting light they bathe in.

Too many coincidences and parallel with the real world to look any other way.

Btw calling it now that the funeral at chapter 1 is a ruse. GOAT claimed to be the 37th demon of hell which is Phenex a firebird demon with the same powers as the Phoenix.
