i picked this up on a whim cuz it was cool seeing boys turn into cute girls but the plot kinda lit all of a sudden

On the contrary, with the way things are going, they are all going to turn into girls and be happy switching back and forth at will. Kouta and Nagisa will still end up together, of course. I much prefer this outcome than having Kouta being the only one left out, not being able to transform like the others.
