No doubt. I just wish their backstories were a bit more nuanced. He's going at it with a sledgehammer again - from adored piano genius to being hated by even your own family . Like cmon man, some subtlety? Maybe don't have all the dials cranked to 12?

I’m kinda with you on jiji though. It’s been a while since he was on screen, but i do seem to recall he had at least one more braincell than this.

the sad backstory is... pretty tame for this manga standard but i'll keep an eye for some future punch-in-the-gut

I don't mind the intensity, I was talking about predictability. And I don't remember it being this bad at the beginning.

Yeah, the problem with a good anime adaptation that brings main stream audiences to the manga is that main stream audiences suck.
People will start to review bomb the manga and call it mid for any miserable fucking miniscule thing that the story does not do as perfectly as they wanted it to.
Case in point: We had 1 page of backstory for the new character and people are hating it and calling it lazy.
Because it is easy to fucking hate, I could boil down umbrella boy's backstory to "Tragic Orphan" and call it lazy, but that would be disingenuous.
Tropes are not bad, nor are they easy, it all depends on how the author works with them, and so far the work done has been great.

• me : OMG , First World problems , rich kid problems .

the black-mailing scene is bad , stupid and nonsense . it looks like a scene from "a special doujinshi manga" .

• black-mailing guy in black : this is your account .
• girl : oh yeah ? i will just delete that account to erase its connection with me .

• black guy : you posted many pictures of your face , your n@ked wet n!pples , and your n@ked wet pu$$y .
