I'ma be that guy, but I wouldn't really care if these two died.
The whole stealing powers thing kinda sucks. Doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, then you got the amnesia arc at the same time.
There's this old ass webcomic I used to read called Goblins.
Basically the author would go on 3-12 month story breaks between key plots, with multiple story lines, so when you actually get back to the original plot it's been so long you don't really care anymore. That's what I feel like is going on right now in Dandadan. To many cooks in the kitchen, to many sluts on the shelf.

I'm not arguing with that, I've lost a lot of interest in this manga lately. But laying the tropes on thick isn't gonna make it any better.

Because up until now the “stealing powers” threat has only been theoretical. It’s to show even the main group can lose. Would you have preferred Jiji lose Evil Eye, or Aira lose Acrobatic Silky? And with Rin losing her powers, Mai has disappeared: a sentient external ally unlike Eye or Silky. It’s like the enemy has kidnapped her essentially.

It would probably be more impactful if it was Jiji because he's a character that people actually care about.
Nobody especially cares if these girls lose their powers because they've barely done anything, and they were beaten in a really lame way by what I feel is a dreadfully uninteresting side villain and his c-tier goon squad.

So actually its very trite, The C-team losing to a nobody villain is about as dull and predictable as it gets.

by giving up their powers. they lost all reasons for keeping them alive.

if the girls lose consciousness for example. they are forced to delay and kidnap them to have a second attempt.
