Let's see what that will do.
Ruri will EXPLODE.

she feels miserable, so she tries to make others miserable?
yeah no, no pity from me. is up to each person to break the chain with the past.
A bit unrelated, but jealousy is a drive to push you think of stupid things.

For example, me, a bum, with friend of high rise living, had a pretty wife, a cute dog, truly a portrayal of perfect family. Happy for him but, just once, I want to see him in miserable state, for him to face hardships in his life of seems easy mode. I wanna know what will he do, how will he live, where will he ends up?

Sounds evil yes, but so does life for being unfair.

On a second read I realized the top shelf is her trying to do her best for her brother, but the bottom shelf is all about her neglect.
Or forced study to cope living as 1 teen in a world of privilege 2 boys.

Not going to be too sorry for Ruri. She's a bad person at heart. I don't think the neglect at home counts at as an excuse. Hinata is in a worse situation and yet look at her.
Ruri just need a good man to fix her.
And no comment on Hinata situation seeing how little it is shown about her. Infact, there is no showing how the guards in their own home or how is their family situation, aside from Kanaria with her LOADED status.

I think Ruri is the first girl we see in her home, and how generally is a home with 1 boy and 1 girl.

Also, I doubt Kissa-sensei wants to draw grandmas (with the exception of Akane in the R18 world). This is still a harem series after all.

What sucks is that he drops us such interesting character plot but then drops it off a cliff and completely goes back to shenanigans (ex look at Hinata’s “overwrite it”)

Oh well, still loving it. Hope he delivers more often.
I doubt many of us would be interested in this series of not for the shenanigans. I like the dark implications of this world though, and mixing them up with the shenanigans serves to keep it lighthearted AND make the darker aspects stand out more.

I brought it up before, but that's partly why I also like 100 Girlfriends. Every girl has their implied bad ending if they never met Rentarou.

Well, that explains a bit about her personality. I guess this is probably the more common outcome compared to Sou's household.

I forgot about that part (first line), so it's interesting that Sou has a younger sister. Was it brought up before why she decided to have another child? :thonk:
I don't think so, no.

But it might imply that Akane does love being a mother and not in it just to win "the jackpot" of birthing a son.

She also did some sort of "mothering" course, but women who want to take advantage of the subsidies might also take that.

I re-read the beginning, and old Sou seemed generally annoyed and aggressive towards Sumire, while treating Sakura poorly enough to have her instantly see new Sou as a new person altogether with how he's acting. When it comes to trauma, it's mentioned old Sou was traumatized in the sperm center, resulting in him crying and telling Akane that he never wanted to go again for the rest of his life.

Based on their descriptions of old Sou, it seems like he was a generally reclusive guy that got annoyed easily with his family while staying locked up in his room. The sperm center trauma probably aided in him treating his family worse and being more reclusive, but that seemed to have only happened a month ago at most since sperm visits are required to be monthly and old Sou got traumatized on his first visit. It's somewhat implied that old Sou's experience at the sperm center being milked by the professionals is what traumatized him. Maybe that incident also contributed to old Sou REALLY wanting out of his world and being swapped with new Sou.

Also, the double panels showing new Sou's PoV and then the inner thoughts early on were initially for comedic effect, but even chapter 32 basically has Akane explaining that it's essentially biological evolution that women have to get horny thoughts constantly around men, and it's through the fear of being hated that they don't pounce on him.

Contrasting to what we've now seen with Ruri's family situation, Sou's family is very remarkable in how well-adjusted they are, all things considered. I get the impression that previous to the Sou swap, Sumire was annoyed with old Sou, Sakura generally disliked how he acted, and Akane was just worried about how he was developing. It shows how much Akane loved and cared for both Sakura and Sumire while they grew up for them to not have any long lasting traumas from being raised in a household with a male. Akane choosing to still have Sakura even after having Sou shows she wasn't just in it for the money, but also seemed to personally highly value being a mother in general, which is commendable.

This manga is funny for the comedy, but there's a lot of thought that seems to go into the world building, which I appreciate.

People forget this male to female ratio is so small it’s almost expected that sons would be spoiled rotten (still is in EA and SEA) and any daughters be pushed to the side. Some shit never changes.

Satou’s family is already rare with them having a son but appears to be even rarer with a mother who doesn’t neglect her other daughters in favor of her son.

What happened on that day? Did seventh day ended for everyone. We didn't see the things happening to Satou and grauds. Did Sou returned that day?

very agree. Akane is the best mom we can have in this weird world where having male makes females crazy as hell.
having sister AFTER a boy is insane but that's one thing, having all of their kids all the care they should have is another thing entirely.

you can clearly see how much she cares with her family throughout the series:
  • Akane still talks casually with her daughters and doesn't try to neglect them even on this version of Satou
  • one moment Akane proudly presented Sumire as (proposed) student guard for Satou
  • Akane has much better control, even under a fear of Satou would be scared for life, and even teach her daughters well to have same control (except Sumire. get outta here maam xD)
while people think that this is pretty much nothing much, this is messed up world we are talking about here, and her self restrain might be very rare as a woman and definitely much more rare as a mother of 2 daughters and 1 son in the middle xD

re-read things again makes me appreciate Satou family much more. the setting itself is already a jackpot for him. he would have a reality check way sooner if only he got a different family (maybe Suzuki has a not so good family, but who knows)

And another thing. I don't think Ruri will be won over by the power of Horny at first. She already smelled him (by chance, in the locker incident) and was not broken.

First Sou will (unwittingly) do something to heal her, be it headpats, or thanks or hugs or anythingelse . Then and ONLY then she'll get Horny.

The order is important here!

Ruri will EXPLODE.
I wonder....

I don't think Ruri will be won over by the power of Horny at first.
Well, I think so, too. Ruri is not in a mental state where she would simply let herself get ensnared. At least, if she's really broken on the level these panels show us here. Horny... well, even Ruri is not entirely unaffected, but she not only has a boy at school but also at her home, so she's certainly built up at least some resistance. It's clearly shown during the locker incident. Of course having the biochemical weapon blown up right in her face knocked her down, and had an effect on her - she liked it. But her mind said NO and put a stop to it. She hates losing control.

So if we look at her situation, then she's deeply hurt and miserable, especially now that she was shown a happy family. That is something so unreal for her that she looked at it with utter disbelief and went away without even doing anything. Watching Akane treat her kids equally with love and care shook Ruri to her core. It makes her own living conditions even more unbearable than they already are. Knowing there's a paradise when you live in a hell you cannot escapt? Uhh...

It might show her hope, yes... if Sou sings her praises lots and she actually believes he's sincere, then she might start to seek warmth, love and recognition from him, something that Ruri never got from her own home. But make no mistake, this girl is so disillusioned with guys, right now anything you'd do would normally have a really high chance to backfire - worst case this experience could result in her getting even nastier, more resentful towards people around Sou and make her more dangerous because she develops a deep hatred. Like, she could start wanting to destroy what she herself believes she'll never have - and then, why should anybody else.

I hope this story won't go THAT far into negative emotions. I hope all characters here get SOME happiness, at least.

It is already surprisingly complex and full of complex situation, but I don't want it to become a tragedy all of a sudden...

males would be getting even LESS freedom
And women would absolutely be forced to birth children as much as possible in the hopes of producing males. No gay ethical concern can hold a candle when humanity faces extinction.

The way I see it, Yuri will collect another win by becoming Ruri's psychiatrist. I mean, she's disliked by her family and colleagues, and can only get a boy to depend on her through manipulation. That is bound to take a toll.

Meanwhile, Yuri is the exact opposite, loved by a grade EX boy, his loving family and her classmates. That will definitely get her curious.

So Ruri turning emotionally dependent on Yuri seems to be the next (funny) step. And, urgh, that also works for the dreaded R18, should you want Yuri to become a pimp :haa:

HAHA RURI'S GONNA GET COR— oh? Oh. Oh...

Also, Hinata's subtle reaction to Akane's warm treatment of her daughters... says a lot about what she might have gone through behind the scenes.

I hope we get more info on her background one day. There was that one chapter that showed us a glimpse of what was really going on, but this gives us another clue.

My guess is that, like Ruri, her mother prioritized her man (husband? boyfriend? Definitely not little brother like Ruri) over Hinata's well-being. But unlike Ruri, she isn't taking her anger out on other males, she's beating herself up over it (if past dialogue is anything to go by) and has low self-esteem as a result.

There's also the chopstick incident (gochisousama deshita~) which subtly hints at possible hypersexuality.

Can even go darker than that: culling female babies, similar to what we do with male poultry or cattle.

Actually, that might make the most sense, but morally... well it's evil.

So uh, I guess Sou also lucked out on being isekaid here instead of that world.

Kisa-sensei is a genious. He brings THE FEELS when we least expect it.
I like how Ruri is a dark Sumire and even a dark Hinata.

Also, this explains her behaviour with the male guard: She is doing the same her moher does, or wishes to be, make a boy overdependent of her, since her brother probably ignores her.
