I mean, can't really blame either of them in this situation. He's being genuinely supportive of her as a friend, not realizing that she's interested in him romantically (actually, she's reached the dependence level). Pretty sure its been a gradual thing. Like the Sengaku period it was the same as the real world, but its shifted. And that its continued to shift that it might be worse than 1:5 sooner or later, hence why polygamy only just being considered.
