I feel like the author kept forgetting the premise of the story he's writing. He keeps throwing in these tropes but he's forgetting that these tropes work because they're MALE-centered in MALE-centered universes. In a world with such a massive gender skew, where women are the dominant and aggressive sex, they don't work.
For example, guys being arrogant about who they date. If women are as overly aggressive as they appeared in the first couple of pages, few guys would act like that so it shouldn't be a normative thing. Why? Because getting constantly hit on and seen as a sex object doesn't innately instill confidence, it mainly instills annoyance and disgust for the people who go through it.
Another one is that part about "Treating people like equals" when looking for a guy. Author-san, in this world, GUYS should be thinking that! Women are the DOMINANT SEX! They're the ones in position of power, they're the ones initiating and objectifying by your own mouth! You literally showed us the female equivalent of a Playboy who can't take "No" for an answer hitting on MC!
It just feels like he's throwing out the premise whenever it's convenient and expecting the reader not to notice.
Plotwist, he will choose someone different from the girl introduced in this and get murdered by her(she seems like a decent person but the way this artist draws her shadows and her ominous dialogue at times makes me scared, like it's a bait and switch beginning and someone will get killed on chapter 2).
I thought it was kinda interesting, an oblivious guy who is a normal guy on our world but a clueless fool on the 1:5 world. I'll wait for them to launch up to chapter 60 and then binge it.
God I love stories like this, they sometimes are really able to flesh out a reverse worlds sense of morality and society.
I hope it really gets into the world building and differences later down the line.
This subgenre has been popping off lately, huh? I'm not complaining though, because the ones I've read so far have been entertaining in some shape or form. Bonus points if it's trash!
no they avoid it because most women who work there experience sexual harassment on the job, it being physically demanding is also a reason but its not the main one
bullshit. Being difficult is the main reason. There are numerous studies that show why women choose the professions and careers they do. Sexual Harassment on the job, while certainly there, doesn't exist exclusively in jobs that require hard labour, or in greater amounts than an office setting. Your premise is completely nonsensical and not based on fact.

ok this seems really out of touch to me because you're going on your own and assuming the genders here don't carry over sentiment that they would have from his old world (aka ours). It's totally possible for the author to make it so men and women don't just mirror each others IRL behaviors, but rather change their IRL behaviors a bit to match the environment, but you don't seem to consider that? and then you explain the way YOU think it should be..?
.
and in the next paragraph, you just start telling him how to write his story why? if you dont like it that much you can just write your own...
.
.
(NOT TO SAY that I think this is good, i just got really bored and it was STILL in Popular New Titles so I gave in... this seemed like a cringe spin on others with similar cringe premises, but after reading its not as bad as i thought. might come back if its still here by chapter 2)

I've already broken down (several times) the socio-evolutionary impact of a 1:5 ratio as numerically, logistically and logically possible with scenario after scenario of how things would most likely pan out in the given setting. In no logical scenario would men act the way we've seen them potrayed and anyone whose run the numbers can see that. Even then I've said multiple times that I'm simply not a fan of the author window dressing things for the sake dropping it whenever it fits his fancy. That's it. I don't need the author to make some grand fantasy, but I'd like him to be consistent and he so far he isn't and that will continue to be my complaint until I see it change.
So I'm gonna respond on both the explicit and implied jabs you've just thrown with this line.
1. The first and only story I ever published was a best seller (author pay sucks by the way), I don't need to prove my chops to you.
2. Even if that wasn't the case, I'm free to critique whatever I want, wherever I want, however I want in as much detail as I want. You're not going to change that and my critique stands firm whether I write a story or not.
3. This isn't an argument or even a logical suggestion. In fact if you truly believe in such a stance, then any time you come across something that sours your experience, I expect you to take on a new field and do better so you can "be valid" in your own mind.
Plane ride too bumpy? Better become an engineer to make less bumpy planes.
Restaurant food bad? Better become a line chef before you say anything about the one who cooked your food.
Movie sucked? Hollywood is over there, buddy. Get crackin.
The author isn't free of my critique, and I'll critique how I see fit. Even though the chance he sees it is infintessimally small, I'll continue to vent my frustrations with it as much as I like, like many of the other readers on this site do. If you've got a problem with that then I'm sorry but there's nothing you can do or say that will change that.
Good points. While all teisou gyakuten sekai-type stories have some elements of the way society or common sense is structured that probably wouldn't make much sense if you looked at them closely, it does seem like the execution is a bit flimsy in this manga. It's probably trying to take advantage of a hot trend, and the author just conceptualized teisou gyakuten as "men play hard to get and are arrogant, and women have low self-esteem and might idealize the type of guy who isn't arrogant" without carefully thinking through all the details.
Still, the main girl is cute enough, so I'm enjoying it all right. Unfortunately, I suspect the author will just constantly introduce these other heroines and play them off each other, turning the manga into a generic "women fighting over a man behind the scenes" romcom, the only twist being that due to the sci-fi setting these girls are confident they want to date the MC from the start. It's a bad sign that most of chapter 1 was the main heroine's POV, because a good execution of this type of story relies on a funny, likable MC, not some generic "gentle" MC who constantly spaces out.
This author main points in his stories is the heroine POV.
70% of the novel POV are from the heroines.
And if you check his previous works, you will also find out that it is from FL pov.
I think this makes it unique enough, because i really like this novel.
I normally hate it when they repeat the same scene from different POV, but i dont find it annoying at all in this novel.

I think your points are valid for a lot of stories with this trope, but not for this novel.
The woman here are not really “overly-aggressive” or not everyone. You can see how Koumi think(before meeting MC) about guys. She think man are annoying. She wants to try being in a relationship but if the guys are arrogant, it wont make her happy anyways so she doesn't actively seek one.
I know 1:5 is pretty bad, but in the story it is not that hard to find guys. So i kinda compare it to people in male-schools(im from one lol), there are no girls for 50% of your life in a boy only school. This make some boys really curious about girls, while others don’t think much about girls at all. Girls are pretty rare to meet for us, but not so rare at the level we wont see them. And “1:5” is kinda just there to make this story a harem story. In the novel it is not mentioned much.
As for the MC getting hit on, normal guys in this world would harshly reject the woman(because they are arrogant).
Because MC think he can live “normally” like how it work in his previous world. He doesnt know how to reject playboy. Because ya know, playgirl are pretty rare.
Well, this is the MC’s problem. His personality is really soft.
Maybe spoiler but this is why MC doesn’t want to be in a relationship.
Before coming to this world. His ex broke up with him because he is too kind to everyone(including girls). And that makes her really uncomfortable. (Like “you would do that to anyone huh”)

Right but that's the problem I have. The author takes up the premise and drops it whenever he wants, then picks it back up when it's convenient. Like you said, he's using it as a premise for a harem and little more. That's fine, but at least try to be consistent with the characterization and the setting. Y'know?
