The High Maintenance things aside. Can anyone explain to me the math in this chapter. I really wanted an explaination about that. Like why did they split the equation where one of them become x^2 + 3[x-2] - 34 = 0, and the other one still x^2 - 3[x-2] - 34 = 0.

I'm just really curious. I search everywhere on the internet, and nothing could really give me an explanation.
